Start Your Volunteer Journey
Volunteering is fun, rewarding and a great way to meet new friends that have similar interests.
Anyone can volunteer. NO special skills required and all tools will be provided.
- On the job training provided as needed.
- Anyone under 18 must have written parental approval.
- Organized group participation is welcome and encouraged.
Outreach Events
Meet the public at outreach events. Help setup and teardown tents and displays. Talk to the public about opportunities on the various refuge units, and invite them to visit and become a member of the Friends. Assist with any planned activities.
Writing
Now that we are publishing more, we are anxious for more content. We have topics waiting to be written about, events that need to be reported on, and lots of room for your creative ideas and writing. Have a way with words and willing to lend us a hand? Our writing opportunities are for our website, facebook page, emails, newsletter and press releases. If you are interested in helping out email us at volunteer@rwrfriends.org.
Construction and Installation Projects
The following construction projects are coming up. Let us know if you are interested in participating and we will get back to you with dates and times. Contact us at volunteer@rwrfriends.org
- Build and install kiosks for the various units (work will be done at the shop at Wilna and at the unit site.
- Build a fence around the cemetary at Cat Point Creek
- Build benches for the various units (work will be done at the shop at Wilna.
Gardening Projects
- The Friends support two Native Gardens both located at the Wilna Unit. They will be getting started soon on setting up their maintenance schedule. If you would like more information or would like to get on their volunteer list contact us at volunteer@rwrfriends.org
2. A new Native Plant garden is planned for the new Cat Point Creek Unit. We are looking for people to help with the design and placement of the garden as well as a team to plant the garden and a team to maintain the garden. If you are interested in any of these opportunities let us know at volunteer@rwrfriends.org.
