Wild in the Woods
Come Play….
“Wild in the Woods” is Rappahannock River Valley Wildlife Refuge’s natural play area for children young and old!
Research indicates that children benefit both physically and mentally from playing in the natural environment. These designed spaces invite children to create their own games and imaginative play.
The area includes elements such as logs and stumps, live trees, sand pile, scrap wood building area, magnification station, a stage and a huge spider web to climb on.
A short trail leads from the parking area near the Cat Point Lodge (closed), across the road, under the Wild in the Woods archway. Along the trail encounter bird song, rustling trees, and mosaic wildlife.
Enter the play area and immediately there are multiple things to do…..
Run, crawl, jump, climb, build, perform, build a birds nest, look at things up close.
